The American Osler Society offers up to five $1,500 stipends annually to support medical student short-term research in medical history or the medical humanities. Candidates must be currently matriculated students in a U.S. or Canadian medical school approved by the LCME, CACMS, or COCA. While important, we are not seeking projects confined to medical ethics. Projects can be either literature research or active studies in medical education and practice.

We will send the first half of the award stipend on announcement of the award and the remainder after the successful applicant submits a brief (< 800-word) summary of their work, no later than eighteen months after the award announcement. We encourage successful applicants to also submit an abstract of their work for presentation at an annual meeting of the Osler Society and other professional organizations. Students/residents whose abstracts are accepted for the Osler Society meeting will be eligible for a travel stipend up to $750.
